Custom Coating fitted to Customer's Product Most often, the electrostatic spray method is employed if 2-3 mils is enough of a coating. Usually, Epoxy, Hybrid or Polyester powder coatings are applied this way. However, a tribo or airstatic process can be employed when "hard-to-reach" areas of a product call for it. This "powderstatic" spray method can also be applied up to 10 mils in one pass. The fluidized-bed powder dip coating method pioneered by EPC is utilized when the application calls for a thicker coating. Usually Vinyls, Nylons & Polyethylenes are applied using this technique. Flocking of the fusible powders can also be done if parts are preheated before coating. Every method listed above can be modified with the preheating of parts before coating. Thicker coatings can offer functional as well as aesthetic advantages in the market place. |
